State Lottery Laws – Online Lottery Sales


Several states are working to legalize online lotteries. The state of New Jersey is currently in the process of legalizing online lottery ticket sales. Other states in the Northeast are also considering legalizing online lottery ticket sales. There are a few states that have already authorized online lottery ticket sales, including Illinois and Pennsylvania.

Illinois started the first online lottery ticket sales in March 2012. The Illinois lottery website later added Daily Lottery Games and Instant Games. In December 2012, Illinois expanded its services to include online Powerball lottery tickets. New customers can sign up for a subscription and receive ten free games. In order to play, players must be at least 18 years old.

New Hampshire lottery began operations in 1964, and features a variety of draw games. The lottery is a member of the Multi-State Lottery Association. In addition to multi-state games, players can also play local draw games. The lottery proceeds are used to fund public school construction, public school renovations, and other education-related programs. New Hampshire lottery also offers e-Instant games, which can be played on your smartphone.
