Several states are working to legalize online lotteries. The state of New Jersey is currently in the process of legalizing online lottery ticket sales. Other states in the Northeast are also considering legalizing online lottery ticket sales. There are a few states that have already authorized online lottery ticket sales, including Illinois and Pennsylvania.

Illinois started the first online lottery ticket sales in March 2012. The Illinois lottery website later added Daily Lottery Games and Instant Games.
